News                                    Spring 2011

Annual Dues

Annual dues statements were distributed to all homeowners and the deadline for payment has passed. The subdivision covenants require membership and the timely payment of dues. A final letter is being sent to all who are delinquent. If immediate response is not received, the homeowners association will place liens on all delinquent properties. This is common practice by all west side homeowner associations. Other west side associations have a dues structure three or four times that of our subdivision.

Large Item Pickup

The City of Springfield provides all residents who live in a house or duplex with individual garbage service the opportunity to call for a free large item pickup. One call is allowed per year and up to three large items will be collected from the residence. The program is intended for specific large items such as large furniture pieces, mattresses, appliances, etc. Only one of the three items may contain freon, e.g. refrigerator, air conditioner, or cooler. Call 522-7797 and ask to schedule a large item pick up. You are not to place these items on the curb until the night prior to the scheduled pick up.

CWLP Rebate

CWLP provides a $50 rebate for old but working refrigerators and freezers circa pre-1993. These less than efficient appliances will be recycled through the Great Refrigerator Roundup. Learn more at www.refrigeratorroundup.com or call the Energy Services Office at 789-2070.

YMCA

Now open - Gus and Flora Kerasotes YMCA will be our new neighbor on the southwest corner of Iles and Archer Elevator Road, across from Rotary Park. Features of the Kerasotes Y include a cardio fitness center complete with treadmills, cross-trainers, ellipticals, stair climbers and recumbent bikes. The new Y will bring the area’s first zero-entry, warm water pool with no ladders or stairs. You just walk right in. Water aerobics and swim lessons will be available as well as a separate lap pool. This facility will also feature an exercise studio, full-size gym and tot drop off for busy parents.

You can check out this new facility at www.springfieldymca.org or by calling Jane Frech at 544-9846, extension 16.
